Here's everything you need to know about your day at Sound Station...

GENERAL ADMISSION TICKET HOLDERS:

This is an 18+ event

Patrons must have a ticket to enter

No tickets will be sold at the gate

No pass-outs.


Fold-up chairs are permitted into the venue.  Small to medium bags are permitted, but be prepared to have them searched at entry by security. Anything deemed too large will not be allowed into the venue as any large objects like gazebos become a safety hazard. Items determined by event staff or security that may cause injury or public nuisance will be confiscated.

GENERAL FOOD AND DRINK:
No outside food or alcohol may be brought into the concert venue. Food trucks will be operating during the concert. Eskies or hard coolers are not permitted into the venue. There will be free water refill stations located in the venue, so bring a clear water plastic bottle with you, if needed. Metal bottles and glass bottles will not be allowed in.

ALCOHOL:

You will be entering a licensed area. Sound Station Music & Arts Festival employees & contractors abide by the laws & regulations of the responsible service of alcohol guidelines and harm minimisation requirements. Intoxicated persons will not be permitted to enter. Anyone showing signs of intoxication will be removed from the premises. Alcoholic beverages must not be taken into or from the concert venue and are subject to immediate confiscation.

STAYING SAFE AT SOUND STATION

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

Sound Station is an 18+ event.

All patrons must have a ticket from Sticky Tickets to be scanned upon entry.

All patrons must be willing to allow a bag check to take place at the entry point by security.

BYO alcohol will not be permitted into the event under any circumstances.

A strict “No Pass out” rule will be applied to patrons for the duration of the event.

Prohibited Items include:  BYO Alcohol, Illicit substances, Umbrellas, Dogs or other pets, Sharps or cutlery, Eskies.

 

 

 

ENTRY & EXIT LOCATIONS

Entry to Sound Station is via a single public entrance located at the west end toward Market Street Lawn.

At the completion of the event, the front entry (Market Street Lawn) and two exits onto Scott Street will open for patrons to leave the venue quietly. Please remember when leaving there are numerous residential properties around the venue and try to make your way away from the event as quietly as possible.

 

 

ALCOHOL AVAILABILITY ON SITE

Sound Station is a licensed event and will have two bars serving a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

There will be a 4-drink limit per person. That number of drinks per person may be reduced after consultation with police or the licensee throughout the day.

Patrons who are exhibiting signs of intoxication will be assessed by the Approved Manager prior to removal from the event, and any person who requires medical assistance will be taken via the medical bay for medical assessment.

The medical bay is located next to Red Frogs peer support area. Red Frogs also have a chill out zone available next to their marquee.

 

 

ACCESSING FREE WATER

Free water will be available next to each public bar.

There will also be 3 x free water bubblers within the licensed area.

Red Frogs and First Aid have access to free bottled water and Red Frog Lollies.

 

 

SHADE & COVER

The forecast for Sunday 28 August is a clear to cloudy day with a high of 19 degrees and a low of 10 degrees. In the event of rain or extreme heat, there is 1250 square meters of undercover awnings onsite at The Station.

 

There are also a number of large trees which provide shade. There are misting stations built into the platforms which mimic the steam trains which formerly arrived at the Newcastle Train Station.

 

In extreme heat, these misting stations can be activated to assist with your comfort.

There will also be an outdoor chill-out space furnished with chairs and tables located in close proximity to food vendors.

 

In addition to the outdoor chill-out space, there is an indoor gallery space showing the works of local artists. The Gallery is fully air-conditioned and has space for around 200 people to visit and walk through this display away from the main stage area.

Red Frogs are also onsite and have a private chill-out space attached to their marquee for persons who may need some time away from the festival to speak with the Red Frogs harm reduction team.

 

 

FOOD VENDORS

Food vendors will be clearly prominent throughout the event site. There will be a variety of food vendors available for the entirety of the day.

 

 

MEDICAL FACILITIES

An experienced medical team will be onsite for the duration of the event. Medical services will be located near the food trucks in the old railway station building.
